Projects:
- 2006 - Automated Case Management Assessment Prototype
Under a project sponsored by the Administration for Children and Families, SITC has worked with the Maryland Department of Human Resources and the University of Maryland, School of Social Work to develop an automated web application for utilization by case managers in assessing the customers. This prototype focused on developing a key questionnaire to guide the case manager in compiling accurate and comprehensive responses from the customer to best provide positive outcomes and aid in selection of allowable activities for customers eligible.
- 2007 - Automated Case Management Assessment Pilot
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) sponsored the development of an Online Job Readiness Assessment Tool to help assess the work readiness of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) customers. The State of Maryland Department of Human Resources and the University of Maryland, School of Social Work collaborated with SITC to define the tool’s functionality and demonstrate its use during a pilot project. The tool supports an interactive dialog between the customer and worker, allowing a worker to navigate through the questionnaire and easily compile accurate and comprehensive information about the customer’s situation. The tool summarizes interview data and offers recommendations to help the worker prepare the customer’s Family Independence Plan. The summary lists strengths, potential barriers, recommended follow-up actions, and identifies countable work-related activities to consider for the plan.

- Data Exchange System
Under a project sponsored by the Administration for Children and Families, it was requested that SITC develop a system to provide a secure, efficient manner for States to exchange data on TANF participants including the status of their 60-month clock for the purposes of eligibility determination and case management. SITC developed a web-based system for State staff to conduct queries to other States and return accurate case-level information. It is expected that this system would be used by case workers, eligibility workers and fraud workers. HHS anticipates the implementation of a demonstration program in FFY 08.
