Case Study
XML Web Services Data Exchange Model
SITC formed and led a national workgroup of State Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and technical representatives to develop an XML data exchange schema for TANF (currently in draft form). Using a consensus-based approach, SITC provided technical assistance to define the overarching concept model and created a set of modular and highly reusable XML schema components (architecture depicted in the diagram). Autonomous State Agencies can reuse the components as a common basis to exchange essential case information using XML web services. Building on a previous XML web services prototype produced by SITC, the workgroup was able to develop a new prototype that demonstrated the use of web services to exchange case information for TANF eligibility processing.
