For the last few years, SITC has provided technical assistance to support the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement in their efforts to increase child support collections through the use of technology. These efforts have focused on:
In addition to providing technical assistance, SITC also has managed and facilitated over 100 meetings and teleconferences to support International, State, Territory, Tribal, Judicial and Federal collaboration in these varied efforts to improve child support collections, reduce child support debts, and disburse payments efficiently to families with children.
Child Welfare For the past 6 years, SITC has developed and delivered significant education and training events and products for State and Federal staff working on information systems supporting child welfare practice. Over the past year, training events included a national training meeting held in Washington, D.C. in May 2007, four regional training sessions held around the country during the summer of 2007, a series of webinars and webcasts, and five on-line courses. The training covered a broad range topics related to the effective planning, development, and implementation of technology to support child welfare programs including the use of mobile technology, disaster preparation and business continuity, software testing, web services, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), resource estimation and allocation, risk management, and usability. TANF Over the last year in support of the TANF project, SITC has
focused on three predominant areas: 1) Technology Prototypes 2) Data Exchange
and Verification and 3) Project Management and Technology. In the area of
technology prototypes, SITC’s efforts involve the development of
performance management and assessment web technologies for State utilization
to enable States to meet Federal participation rates as well as improve
outcomes for their TANF customers. In the area of data exchange and
verification SITC has produced technology practices and processes for TANF
agencies to access the Child Support Enforcement’s New Hire Directory
for confirming TANF eligibility. In addition SITC has established business
and technical requirements for development of a national database of TANF
recipients for verification to reduce fraud. In the area of project
management and technology expertise, SITC has provided oversight and
management practices through a large team of national experts, including
program and IT representatives from all 50 States, the District and the
Tribes as well as coordination with local governments implementing TANF. |
